- Tue, Jul 15Sam First welcomes back Kyle Poole, the incredibly swinging drummer who can be heard driving the bands led by Cecile McLorin Salvant, Emmet Cohen and Wynton Marsalis. Band performs one set at 7:30 followed by a jam session from 9:00-11:00pm. - Jam session participants use code SAM1JAM.
- Wed, Jul 16Barclay Moffitt honed his craft in Chicago, performing with greats Marquis Hill, Kurt Elling, and Makaya McCraven, and as a member of the Green Mill’s house big band. A regular sideman at Sam First, Moffitt now presents his band for a night of his original music and arrangements.
- Thu, Jul 17Javier Santiago has become a notable force in the jazz world. For this show, Santiago will be showcasing his original music, as well as some standards with a newly formed acoustic jazz piano trio.
- Fri, Jul 18Surrounded by the top jazz recording artists in Los Angeles, Catina DeLuna and Otmaro Ruiz present, for the first time, the music of their new album on the official day of its release. Repertoire ranges from classic compositions by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ary Barroso, Dorival Caymmi, and more.
