The VDE Jazz Orchestra will perform a tribute to one of the greatest big bands in jazz history, the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra. This band was revolutionary because of the compositions of Thad Jones and the completely new approach to big band drumming by Mel Lewis. The VDE Jazz Orchestra will play a variety of pieces by Thad, but also by important collaboratos such as Bob Brookmeyer and Jim McNeely.
