Tyler Blanton Group feat. Josh Nelson

For the past decade, vibraphonist and composer Tyler Blanton has garnered notice as a rising star in the New York Jazz scene. Identified by his distinctly lyrical and nuanced four-mallet approach on the vibraphone, Blanton has been praised as "an heir to the swinging and melodically charged throne of post-bop masters such as Gary Burton and Bobby Hutcherson."  He has toured the US, Europe, and Asia as a leader and received press from the NY Times, Village Voice, Hot House, LA Times, and Downbeat Magazine, among numerous others. His third record as a leader, " Sense of Place" was released in Spring of 2019 on Destiny Records has generated critical acclaim as a new standard of vibraphone lead modern jazz. Blanton is a Ludwig- Musser artist and clinician and plays Innovative Percussion mallets. This tour will revamp a west coast configuration with a long time friend and collaborator, pianist Josh Nelson. Nelson has been a major force on the Los Angeles jazz scene for several decades, having performed extensively with Natlie Cole, John Pizzarelli, Benny Golson, and a long list of others. Blanton and Nelson have a long standing musical connection. Their intuitive sense of interplay and orchestration between the vibraphone and piano is truly unique.
