Greg Spero: Pianist, composer and producer Greg Spero is one of the most captivating young artists to emerge on the creative music scene in decades. Heralded by the iconic Quincy Jones as "an absolutely beautiful human being and artist who knows how to play from his soul," Spero is the mastermind behind the rhythmically-charged, groove-oriented and genre-bending SPIRIT FINGERS. The quartet features French bassist Hadrien Feraud, Dallas drum prodigy drummer Mike Mitchell and Italian guitarist Dario Chiazzolino. Their riveting Shanachie Entertainment debut which was co-produced by Makaya McCraven, is due out on March 16, 2018. Mentored by the legendary Herbie Hancock, Spero was the long-time pianist for pop singer/songwriter Halsey with whom he appeared on such national TV shows with as "Saturday Night Live" and "Ellen." Spero is also an alumnus of the Miles Davis Electric Band. At a time when a new generation of musicians are redefining the nature of jazz, Greg Spero is at the vanguard.
Dario Chiazzolino: Dario Chiazzolino is a multi-award winning Italian guitarist and composer. One of Italy’s most in-demand jazz musicians, he performs regularly and records with many top European and American jazz musicians. The recipient of numerous awards, Dario has been playing guitar professionally since age 14. He was awarded as “Best Guitar Player” in diverse music competitions, including Umbria Jazz Festival ( IT ), Top Jazz (UK) and on several magazines such as Italian Jazz Magazine, Guitarlist and D-Magazine. Dario has performed in jazz festivals across Europe and USA, and regularly appears in clubs in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Russia and Croatia. He has recorded 8 albums as a leader, and 12 as a sideman and an in demand educator, Dario has been teaching in Italy for 15 years, and has held teaching residencies in Italy and Europe.
Mike Mitchell: Blaque Dynamite, aka Mike Mitchell, began playing the drums at the early age of 2. Since then, he has learned to adapt to many styles of music, has studied theory intensely as well as practiced 16,862 hours! He was formally introduced to jazz at the age of 14, which spurred his passion for the genre. By the age of 17, he had performed/toured with Kamasi Washington, Chrisette Michele, Derrick Hodge, Gerald Clayton, Antonio Hart, Spirit Fingers (formerly known as The Polyrhythmics), Seven Davis Jr., The New World Order, and the legendary Stanley Clarke.
Max Gerl: Maximilian Gerl is an acoustic and electric bassist hailing from East Dallas, Texas. He graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music in 2017, and as a member of the Dallas, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles musical communities, has played, performed, or recorded with Tia Fuller, Jack DeJohnette, Bob Mintzer, George Garzone, Mike Moreno, Shaun Martin, Bernard Wright, Sean Jones, Marshall Gilkes, Chris Cheek, Arturo Sandoval, James Francies, Beka Gochiashvili, Cameron Graves, Mike Mitchell, Shelley Carroll, The Funky Knuckles, David Gilmore, Lamine Toure and Group Saloum, Wycliffe Gordon, and Mark Lettieri, and at historic venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Monterey Jazz Festival. When he is not touring, Gerl lives in Los Angeles, CA, where he performs, records, and teaches.
