Randy Ingram Trio
Randy Ingram, pianist/composer, has been hailed as “gifted” (Jazz Times) and “a formidable composer” (San Francisco Chronicle). “A young pianist drawn to contemporary harmony and a sleek rhythmic sensibility… Astute, self-possessed” (The New York Times). Originally from Laguna Beach, CA,, Ingram attended the University of Southern California and then the New England Conservatory of Music before moving to Brooklyn, NY in 2003. He has played with leading musicians including John Patitucci, Ari Hoenig, Benny Maupin, Tierney Sutton, Kendrick Scott and the late Billy Higgins. Ingram made his acting debut in 2013, portraying one of his heroes, Bill Evans, in the Swedish biopic “Monica Z” about the great singer Monica Zetterlund. In the fall of 2016 he was awarded a composition fellowship at New Hampshire's prestigious MacDowell Colony. His newest recording for Sunnyside Records, “The Wandering”, is an intimate collection of duets with the esteemed bassist Drew Gress, which is “as calming and carefully crafted a conversation you’re likely to hear between a grand piano and stand-up bass anytime soon” (The Observer). For this performance, he reunites with one of his oldest friends and musical associates, bassist Billy Mohler, as well as one of his formative mentors, the great Joe LaBarbera on drums.
