Recording artist, Nicolas Bearde, a native of Nashville, began singing in earnest while living in Japan during his military service. After a stint in the L.A. music scene, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980's and began focusing on jazz. For more than a decade he toured and recorded with Bobby McFerrin’s innovative vocal ensemble "Voicestra" and later its off-shoot, "SoVoSó". He has released 6 albums on his own label, and has earned a unique place in the contemporary male vocal jazz scene around the globe, garnering rave reviews at home and abroad from Jazz Times, All About Jazz, Jazz Wise, The Jazz Examiner and Jazz Weekly.

Nicolas is also the featured vocalist on sax legend Vincent Herrings chart-topping CD, "Hard Times" as well as narrator for Herring's “Story of Jazz Orchestra”  a 10 piece ensemble of jazz luminaries  (Eric Alexander, James Carter, Jon Faddis, Jeremy Pelt, Steve Turre, Mike LcDonne, Kenny Davis and Carl Allen) who travel the world presenting Jazz music's 100+year history of recorded jazz. Bearde also balances his music career with acting in stage productions,( "Master Harold....and the Boys,)  television ( Monk and Nash Bridges) and major feature films ( Final Analysis and True Crimes).

In 1997, Bearde formed his own Right Groove Records imprint to record and release his jazz and soul-influenced albums, including his latest acclaimed session I Remember You: The Music of Nat King Cole, which featured sax great Eric Alexander, that rose quickly to the Top 20 on the Jazz Week Charts.

"A richly impressive amalgam of Bill Withers and Billy Eckstine"...says Jazz Times, vocalist Nicolas Bearde turns every song he sings into personal expressions of love, hope, and soul. On his debut night at Sam First,  the timeless music of Lou Rawls, Nat Cole, Bill Withers, Burt Bacharach and some of his original pieces will provide his magic carpet.
