Pianist Michael Orenstein makes his highly anticipated return to Sam First as a leader for the first time in over a year, delivering his most dynamic project to date. Having carefully chosen an ensemble of top-notch players from his cohort of longtime musical accomplices, Orenstein presents a captivating concert that is the culmination of years’ worth of musical exploration and composition.
The audience will have the rare opportunity to hear Orenstein’s signature “innovative blend of modernity and tradition” (Something Else!) and “sublime display of creativity and virtuosity” (Take Effect) in an evening of new compositions and fresh takes on jazz standards.
