Margherita Fava Trio with Jonathan Pinson & Jermaine Paul

Margherita Fava (piano), Jermaine Paul (bass), Jonathan Pinson (drums) 

Pianist, composer and arranger Margherita Fava grew up in the small village of Follina in northeast Italy. At 17 enrolled in a summer jazz program in nearby Venice and there she was first exposed to Miles Davis’ solo on “So What” from Kind of Blue. It changed her life.

She decided to move to the States to learn more about the music and the culture and after graduating with a degree in jazz studies, she earned a master’s degree in music at the University of Tennessee. There she studied piano with Eric Reed and composition with Greg Tardy.

Her debut album “TATATU” featuring Greg Tardy and produced by Rodney Whitaker was released on all streaming platforms in March 2023 and received a 4-star review on Downbeat Magazine.
