Larry Goldings & Melinda Sullivan

"I met Melinda Sullivan in 2019 when Inara George and I were workshopping a musical of ours (which is still in development), and I was instantly amazed and by her joyous and spontaneous tap dancing, not to mention her overall musicianship. We eventually made a few videos in my home studio without rehearsing...we just jammed. Melinda has all the skills of a great jazz instrumentalist. Her time and feel are impeccable, she's well versed in the American popular song repertoire, (and many other genres), and she is simply a great "drummer" and improviser and accompanist. We have so much fun playing duo, it's ridiculous."

Larry Goldings is a Grammy-nominated pianist and composer. His organ trio with Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart has been recognized as "among our presiding paragons of the modern Hammond B-3 organ trio tradition” (Nate Chinen, New York Times). Goldings’ musical inspirations draw from a lifetime of absorbing jazz, pop, funk, R&B, electronic and classical music. As a performer and recording artist, he is known for long-term collaborations that straddle the realms of jazz and pop with such artists as Jim Hall, Maceo Parker, John Scofield, Steve Gadd, Jack DeJohnette, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Sia Furler, John Mayer, and others.

Melinda Sullivan is a tap dance artist, dancer, and choreographer. She studied dance under the Jazz Tap Ensemble, Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and California Dance Theater. She left home to tour North America with the Cats 25th anniversary company, followed by the inaugural national tour of High School Musical on Stage! Now based in Los Angeles, Melinda choreographs and performs for a variety of scripted and unscripted television shows, most recently choreographing several episodes of Encore! for Disney+. Film and TV credits include: Being the Ricardos, La La Land, the Oscars, Glee, Dancing with the Stars, Crazy-Ex Girlfriend,  the Late Late Show with James Cordon, & Top 10 SYTYCD+All Star. She is a guest artist with NYC based, award winning tap company Dorrance Dance, and is a founding member of Chloé Arnold's Syncopated Ladies. Melinda just worked alongside Michelle Dorrance as the associate choreographer of Lincoln Center Theater’s new musical, Flying Over Sunset. She is on faculty at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, and is honored to pass on the incredible history and legacy of tap dance with students around the world.
