Winner of the National Bell Award and Montreux Jazz Festival’s International Jazz Vocal competition, vocalist/composer Kristin Berardi is paired up with one of LA's most brilliant pianists, Miro Sprague for a very special evening. Band plays one set at 7:30 followed by a jam session at 9:00.

"Tuesday Happenings" is a weekly series curated by 4x GRAMMY-nominated pianist/composer Gerald Clayton. House band performs one set at 7:30pm which is immediately followed by a jam session from 9:00-11:00pm. - Jam session participants use code SAM1JAM at checkout for a discounted second set.

Berardi is an Australian singer and composer residing in Switzerland. She is one of the first calls in the Australian Jazz Scene, but started making waves in the international scene in 2006 when she won the Montreux Jazz Festival’s International Jazz Vocal competition. While residing in Australia she toured nationally, and internationally mainly concentrating on USA and Asia. In 2021 Berardi she moved to Lucerne, Switzerland to take a full time position at Hochschule Luzern University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

She has worked with such international greats such as Ingrid Jensen, Kenny Werner, Thomas Morgan, Dan Tepfer, Christine Jensen, Pascal Schumacher, Dan Weiss, and such Australian Jazz greats as Julien Wilson, Sam Anning, Barney McAll, James Muller, Jamie Oehlers, Ben Vanderwal amoungst others. She has also worked with Wendy Matthews, Katie Noonan, Deborah Conway, Claire Bowditch, Kate Miller-Heidke, and Ella Hooper throughout Australia.

Berardi won the Montreux Jazz Festival's International Shure Voice competition in 2006 and the following year supported Al Jarreau and George Benson at the Montreux Jazz Festival. She won the National Jazz Awards for Voice 2012 at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival and has three Bell Awards for the Best Jazz Vocal Album of the year. Also, in 2010 she was awarded the Freedman Fellowship for Jazz in Australia, and is the only vocalist to ever win this prestigious award. She was nominated for an ARIA for her album “Kristin Berardi meets the Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra”, as well as recently (2021) for “Haven” with Berardi, Foran, Karlen.

Her most recent album “The Light and The Dark”, is her 13th album, and features Ingrid Jensen and Miro Sprague. This is out on the Earshift label.

All shows at Sam First are 21+ (no one under the age of 21 will be permitted)
