Perhaps best known for his recordings with pianist Bill Evans in the final years of his life, drummer Joe La Barbera’s energetic touch and masterful soloing has established him as not only a giant in, but a living master of the music.

With a career spanning six decades, Joe La Barbera’s resume reads like a Who’s Who of Jazz: Woody Herman, Gap and Chuck Mangione, Jim Hall, Clark Terry, Art Farmer, John Scofield, Mike and Randy Brecker, Brad Mehldau, Bob Brookmeyer, Phil Woods, Bud Shank, Toots Thielemans, Tony Bennet, John Abercrombie and Bill Evans. He can be heard on 275 recordings as well as numerous television and streaming broadcasts. He is the recipient of the 2019 Los Angeles Jazz Society Jazz Treasure Award, Faculty Emeritus at the California Institute of the Arts, and the co-author “Times Remembered” The Final Years of the Bill Evans Trio.
