Havana-born Jimmy Branly is a first-call powerhouse drummer, performing and recording with legends ranging from Chucho Valdez to Lyle Mays. For this show, Branly's trio is joined by saxophonist/flutist Justo Almario, whose soulful, agile sound has long been a defining voice in Latin jazz.

Jimmy Branly, the Havana-born drummer who went on to anchor some of Cuba’s most important groups before moving to Los Angeles, has since become a first-call powerhouse, performing and recording with an extraordinary roster of legends across jazz, Latin, pop, and beyond. For this special Sam First appearance, he’s joined by Colombian-American saxophonist and flutist Justo Almario, an influential bandleader and former Mongo Santamaría sideman, whose soulful, agile sound has long been a defining voice in Latin jazz.
