A prolific forward-thinking composer reflective of the current New York scene, as well as a musician with a deep connection to the well of the jazz tradition, saxophonist Jerome Sabbagh is primarily driven by an unwavering attachment to melody. For one night at Sam First, he is inviting saxophonist Mark Turner, one of the most influential musicians of today, to explore playing standards with a top notch LA rhythm section. Both saxophonists most recent albums, Jerome Sabbagh’s “Stand Up!” (Analog Tone Factory) and Mark Turner’s “Reflections on: The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man” (Giant Step Arts) were selected in the best albums of 2025 by The Absolute Sound.
