Castellanos was recognized as a Downbeat Magazine in “25 For the Future” - one of the nation’s most innovative trumpeters! He is an established music scene-maker in Southern California, curating successful jazz series for the San Diego Symphony (Jazz @ the Jacobs/Bayside Summer Nights), San Diego Museum of Art (Portraits In Jazz) & The Westgate Hotel (Sunset Poolside Jazz Series). He serves as a Resident Composer for the San Diego Ballet, hosts the city’s longest running jazz jam Wednesday nights at Panama 66 at the San Diego Museum of Art, and champions the future of jazz as Founder and Faculty Member of the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory.
He has performed and/or recorded with: Michael Buble, Luis Miguel, Diana Krall, Willie Nelson, Daniel Jackson, Oscar Hernandez and more.
