ESSÊNCIA feat. Otmaro Ruiz and Bruno Mangueira

Otmaro Ruiz and Bruno Mangueira met in 2017, and since then they have been performing together in notable jazz venues in Los Angeles (Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Club, Sam First), São Paulo (Tupi or not Tupi, JazzB) and Campinas (Companhia Sarau , Equestrian Society of Campinas). The first record of this partnership, the CD ESSÊNCIA was recorded in Los Angeles, in a duo of piano and guitar, and released by North American label Blue Canoe Records. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the album was initially made available only on digital platforms, in March 2020. Now it finally comes to the public in physical CD format, which features introductory liner notes by iconic pianist/keyboardist Russell Ferrante (Yellowjackets).

Recorded in a duo setting by multi-Grammy-nominated Venezuelan pianist based in Los Angeles Otmaro Ruiz and Brazilian guitar virtuoso Bruno Mangueira, the CD ESSÊNCIA has been drawing the attention of some of the main exponents of North American jazz. The album stands out for its sound originality and the richness of its arrangements, with fantastic harmonic and rhythmic choices, made by two great masters, in a sublime atmosphere of refinement, mastery and virtuosity.
