David Robaire Group - “In Herbie We Trust”

David Robaire (electric and acoustic basses), Andrew Renfroe (guitar), Sam Barsh (piano/keyboards), Christian Euman (drums)

Dec 02, 7:30 PM
Sam First, 6171 W Century Blvd #180, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA

David Robaire is one of LA’s most prominent bassists who can be found performing alongside LA and NYC’s most acclaimed bandleaders. Besides performing and teaching at Cal State University Northridge, Robaire has also been the Manager of Music at Sam First since the club opened in 2017. After countless sideman performances over the years, Robaire finally brings his own group to Sam First, which will feature pianist/keyboardist Sam Barsh, drummer Christian Euman on drums and rencent LA transplant, guitarist Andrew Renfroe. The group will pay tribute to the great Herbie Hancock, who was a mentor of Robaire's while studying at the Thelonious Monk Institute college program (*which has since been renamed The Herbie Hancock Institute). Robaire's group will focus specifically on the beautifully-crafted (and funkiest) songs that Hancock produced between 1968-1980 on his albums "Speak Like a Child," "Fat Albert Rotunda," The Prisoner," "Thrust," "Sunlight," "Feets Don't Fail Me Now," and "Mr. Hands."
