Dan Rosenboom Quartet
Trumpeter/composer Dan Rosenboom and his quartet embrace an open and experimental approach to his music, “deftly slicing through rhythmically challenging originals and free-improv as if they were one and the same” (DownBeat Magazine). The music is full of creative fire, opens space for individual expression from each of its members, and draws inspiration from musical traditions across the globe. Rosenboom is widely regarded as a prolific musical catalyst in the Los Angeles scene, and is the founder of Orenda Records. As a trumpet player, his diverse career ranges from performing on major motion pictures and television in the Hollywood Studios to being highly active in the creative music community, and he is on faculty at both UCLA and Pasadena City College. For this special performance at Sam First, he is joined by some of Southern California’s most exciting musicians, including Joshua White on piano/keys, Richard Lloyd Giddens Jr. on bass, and Jonathan Pinson on drums.
