Chris Lewis is an American saxophonist, composer and educator. Born in Uniondale, NY, Chris grew up playing music in church and school. He has had the opportunity to perform in the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands, working and recording with Eric Reed, Delfeayo Marsalis, Carl Allen, & Rodney Green, among others. Chris graduated from Temple University in May of 2018. While at Temple, he was blessed to study under Terell Stafford, Tim Warfield, Dick Oatts, John Swana, Ben Schachter and Tim Green while also immersing himself in the Philadelphia music scene, learning from those who inspired him on a daily basis. In February of 2018, he was accepted by a panel of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ambrose Akinmusire and James Newton into the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance (previously the Thelonious Monk Institute) in Los Angeles, CA. While in the program, Chris will be studying under the musical direction of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Chris strives to stay in a continuous state of learning and curiosity by being in situations that push and motivate him. He aspires to create music that touches people on an emotional and spiritual level.
