Benjamin Ring Quintet

Benjamin Ring is an award-winning drummer, percussionist and composer based in Los Angeles. Originally from Piedmont, California, he began playing drums and percussion at eight years old and has been recognized by festivals and institutions worldwide for his work in jazz and classical idioms. Performing across Europe, Asia and the United States, Benjamin has played in ensembles led by David Binney, Billy Childs, Patrice Rushen, Ed Simon, Gerald Clayton, Genevieve Artadi, and members of the San Francisco Symphony, in such venues as Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blues Alley, the Blue Whale, the Kuumbwa Jazz Center, and Davies Symphony Hall. He is currently attending the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA, a prestigious, two-year master’s program composed of one small ensemble of musicians chosen by audition from across the globe.

This show will be Benjamin’s first as a band leader in Los Angeles and will feature an outstanding band of some of the best young musicians in Southern California. The program will include an engaging mix of original compositions and arrangements as well as some jazz standards. Come have a drink and enjoy the music with us!
