Benjamin Ring is a 22 year old drummer, percussionist and composer about to begin his studies at the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz at UCLA. He began learning piano at the age of 5 and joined an orchestra playing classical percussion when he was 8, eventually discovering his love for drums of all kinds. Recognized by festivals and institutions worldwide, Benjamin has had the opportunity to perform across Europe, Japan, and the United States, sharing the stage with such artists as David Binney, Patrice Rushen, Genevieve Artadi, Ambrose Akinmusire, Justin Brown, Jeff Parker, Steve Lehman, Ravi Coltrane, Bob Mintzer, Mike Aaberg, Sam Wilkes, and members of the San Francisco and Chicago symphonies. He is excited to be putting on his first performance as a band leader in Los Angeles playing some of his favorite music as well as his own compositions.
