Alan Ferber Big Band, LA Edition AT SECOND HOME

Alan Ferber's Big Band music is designed such that each live performance is a completely unique, one-time-only experience for the band and audience alike. Alan's thoughtfully-developed compositions provide plenty of space for each band member's unique improvisational voice to shine brightly, but in turn require bandmates to listen deeply, groove collectively, and blend as chamber musicians.

Over the past two years of paused live performances, Alan has continued to foster the development of new work for big band through his role as co-director of the New York-based BMI Jazz Composers Workshop.  The ongoing meetings with this group have also inspired new works of his own, none of which have yet been performed by a live ensemble.  March 21 will mark the premieres of these compositions and arrangements, in addition to revitalized readings of music from his two GRAMMY-nominated big band albums, March Sublime & Jigsaw.  Featured soloists will include such musical luminaries as Alan's twin brother Mark Ferber on drums, the guitarist Anthony Wilson, the pianist Josh Nelson, and horn section players including Alex Hahn, Katisse Buckingham, Dan Rosenboom, Ido Meshulam, and, of course, Alan himself.

SET TIMES: 2 sets at 7:30pm & 9:00pm. A separate ticket is required for each show.

PARKING: Free parking is available underground, entrance on DeLongpre, across the street from the Target parking entrance (5500 DeLongpre for GPS input).
