Back from living and studying in Amsterdam for two years, Tim Rachbach has amassed a new body of compositional work based on these new European experiences. He has put together a band that showcases upcoming talents of Los Angeles scene and features one of the most original saxophone voices of the 21st century, Mark Turner.
Tim Rachbach, a Tucson native, began drumming at age 7 and developed a passion for jazz in middle school, joining the Tucson Jazz Institute. With TJI, the Ellington Band won major competitions including the Essentially Ellington Competition and toured Europe. He then pursued studies at the Manhattan School of Music, working with master drummers John Riley and Kendrick Scott and exploring Indian and Brazilian music.
